Matakana Coast Wine Country includes the boutique & historic townships of Puhoi, Warkworth, Matakana, Snells Beach, Tawharanui, Whangateau, Leigh & Pakiri. Whether you want to wander through the boutique shops of the Matakana Village Centre, enjoy the seaside settlements of Snells Beach, Algies Bay or Leigh or enjoy a coffee along the riverside in Warkworth, each township is a slice of paradise.
Matakana Coast is the ideal destination for the adventure and outdoor seekers – Tawharanui Regional Park offers an open bird sanctuary, marine reserve, surf beach, walking tracks and stunning coastal views. Home to the oldest marine reserve in New Zealand, Goat Island is the perfect place to dive, snorkel or take a glass bottom boat cruise or kayak.
The region offers three golf courses at Omaha Beach Golf Course, Warkworth Golf Course and Wellsford – as well as great horse riding, a cycle trail and cruises to Kawau Island.
